IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi believed killed in US raid | DW News

The leader so the so-called Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is believed to be dead after being targeted by a US military operation in Syria. Sources in Syria, Iraq and Iran say they've been informed about ISIS leader Baghdadi's death, but it has yet to be officially confirmed by the US. Officials there have confirmed the raid took place in Idlib province, in Syria's northwest. US President Donald Trump is set to make a statement, after tweeting earlier that "something very big has just happened."
