Eye tracking, reading the eye movements

Eye tracking technology has seized a lot of attention as user interface of the future. After tracking the eye movements with a camera, the point of gaze can be measured through a mapping process. And it is called eye tracking technology. In the past, additional hardware equipment was necessary to apply an eye tracking technology. However, it has become possible to track the gaze of a user only by using the camera embedded in mobile devices like smartphone and tablet PC. When applying an eye tracking technology to a mobile phone, it is possible to scroll through the screen and even click contents only with eyes, instead of using hands. Eye tracking technology has recently been applied to the automobile industry. By reading the eye movements of a driver, an alert sound rings when a driver gets careless. The technology will be applied to the mass-produced automobiles in the near future in order to prevent the traffic accidents that can be caused by carelessness of the driver. Moreover, in the field of VR, it has become possible to read the eye movements and brain waves as well as analyze emotions. And it is expected to be introduced to a wide range of industries including marketing and preference researches. We introduce eye tracking technology, which can get information by analyzing the eye movements.

Evolution of marketing for sharing economy

"Sharing" instead of "owning," has evolved as a new economic trend in the global market. As economy and marketing are highly correlated with each other, marketing strategies that can cope with the changing economic trends are necessary. Therefore, the government has promoted a so-called "regulatory sandbox program" for shared personal mobility, and allowed the driving of electric scooter on bicycles-only roads. A shared electric scooter service is provided in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do Province. As users can drive shared electric scooters on the bicycles-only roads, it can contribute to easing traffic congestion. So it has gained a lot of popularity among office workers. Along with the continuous rise of K-Beauty, a shared hair salon was launched in Seoul, for the first time in the domestic market. When a hair designer pays a fixed amount of monthly rent, they can get a personal dressing table. And they can use the shared spaces as well as shared equipment. Moreover, a shared kitchen of an expressway rest area was selected for a demonstration project of a "regulatory sandbox program." A "Night Cafe," which is the first shared kitchen in Korea, opened in Anseong Rest Area. The kitchen and cooking facilities are shared by different businesses in the daytime and at night. As business owners can use the kitchen equipped with necessary facilities, they can save a lot of cost which is necessary when starting a business. We look into the marketing strategies for the sharing economy, which will give a boost to the economy by developing new industries and create jobs.
