Over the development of Alvinnn!!! and The Chipmunks, the main six characters underwent a design change that resulted in them looking quite different than what concept art and early animation test footage had planned. By looking into aspects of the series' production, I will try to determine if there is an explanation as to why this change was made. All images used in this video were borrowed from Munkapedia and are intended to be used in a way that qualifies under Fair Use.
