One Hand Anyhow To Shoulder 120lb Added more weight and dropped the Jerk. Barbell training was so much more 'interesting' before Squat Stands & Power Racks. It tended to be much more of a whole body involvement!! Imagine always having to get the bar to the shoulders from the ground for ALL LIFTS: Squats, Jerks, Presses, etc. How different would our development be?? You'd probably have all the core strength you could ever need or want!!
By picking up with just one arm, you are making sure to develop the sides EQUALLY which is good for ALL athletes whether it be Bodybuilding or Strongman.
All I am doing is getting the weight to the shoulder so that I am in position to Jerk. Other times I do this getting the bar into position to Bent Press. Soooooo if you are doing some relatively light overhead work one handed, why not add to the challenge and make yourself get it from ground to shoulder with just the lifting hand??? Sure could make it 'interesting'....
