Jam Gadang (literally means "The Big Clock") is the landmark of Bukittinggi, the second biggest city in West Sumatera province, Indonesia. It was built in 1926 as gift from Queen Wilhelmina to Dutch East Indies government whom controlled Bukittinggi back then.
This "Big Ben of Indonesia" is surrounded by many other tourist attractions, such as Pasa Ateh, Janjang Ampek Puluah, Jembatan Limpapeh, Museum Bung Hatta, and Ngarai Sianok. It stands tall in the middle of city square that feels so lively every day and night by the tourists and locals. Previously the square was relatively smaller, but the city government rebuilt it as larger and newer square. The rebuilding is still less than a year, that's why the vegetations are still small. Hopefully they will grow big and very green years later!
