행복은 짧다 -이남일-

꽃잎이 진다고 슬퍼하지 마라.
행복은 짧은 법이다.
꿈을 위해 말없이 행복을 떨구는
꽃잎은 누구보다 아름답다.
물길을 딛고 선 뿌리와
사철 햇살을 이고 사는 푸른 잎들도
하루 꽃을 위해 몸을 던진다.
행복이 짧다고 슬퍼하지 마라.
밤새워 쓰던 긴 편지보다
만남의 기쁨은 짧지 않던가.
우리가 가는 길이 그러하듯이
언제나
꿈보다 행복은 짧은 법이다.

Don't be sad about the petals.
Happiness is short.
It is a simple thing to be happy
and the petals are more beautiful than anyone else.
The roots that stand on the waterway
and the blue leaves that live in the sun
throw themselves for the day's flowers.
Don’t be sad about happiness.
I'm not so sorry for your long letter
than the long letters you wrote all night.
Just as we're going to be always
Happiness is shorter than dreams.
