ABK interim body to conduct fresh election/selection of ABK within 6 months, but present executive body cries foul #PasighatNews
PASIGHAT, Jun 05: In a press statement today afternoon, the interim committee of Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), headed by its President, Obang Dai and Secretary General, Bani Perme said that, the present executive body of ABK is invalid and the interim committee will conduct a fresh general conference cum election/selection of ABK executive body anytime soon.
The statement came at a juncture when rib between ABK members cropped up after the formation of new executive body during October 2018 last headed by President, Getom Borang and Secretary General, Okom Yosung. Alleging the entire election/selection procedure of new executive body in the October session of ABK’s general conference as out of bye-law, some other member knocked the door of court as the complainant Oyin Moyong had alleged anomalies in the election procedure by evading certain guidelines in the ABK Bye-law. In today’s joint statement of Obang Dai and Bani Perme, both clarified that, after the growth of rib between the parties within ABK, an interim committee was formed for renewal of ABK’s society registration certificate and also to conduct a fresh election/selection.
“The election/selection procedure of new executive body election/selection was out of bye-law and after the matter was challenged in the session court, ABK was found to be invalid to be tried in the court of law as its registration had expired by 2008. However, an interim committee was formed with me as President and Shri Bani Perme as Secretary General during March 11th 2019 and we have now got the registration of ABK renewed on 4th June 2019. The fresh election/selection of ABK will be conducted by our team of interim committee with due course of time within six months”, said Obang Dai, a retired Addl. Dy. Commissioner and one of the man behind strengthening of ABK in its beginning.
While Bani Perme and Kangkiram Padun also stated that, the present executive body will cease to function as they don’t have any registration number of their claimed ABK, a society, as they themselves proved in the court that ABK can’t be tried in court as it’s no more a registered society. “They proved ABK as no more registered society after its expiry of registration during 2008 to evade interference of Court fearing suspension of present executive body as the entire process of October 2018 election/selection of ABK was out of bye-law”, added Bani Perme and Kangkiram Padun supported by former ABK Chief Advisor, Tabi Jerang, Ex-MLA Tapum Jamoh, retired officers and ABK’s senior members Rerin Yirang and Aduk Tayeng who were also in the meeting today.
Meanwhile, Getom Borang, President ABK has rubbished the statement of interim committee and termed it as hidden motive of some vested people who tries to destabilize the ABK. “We are genuinely elected executive members while following all the procedures and we were also about to get our expired registration to be renewed soon. But this so called interim committee has illegally got registration of ABK renewed without any consultation and authorization from us due to which we have appealed the concern offices of registrar of society for recalled and cancelation of the renewed registration certificate of ABK illegally.
While Okom Yosung, Secretary General of present ABK also questioned that, it was the false of executive body of the then ABK President late Kangir Jamoh and Secretary General, Bodong Yirang who didn’t renew the registration of ABK. “Despite non renewal of ABK registration certificate then, the ABK existed and performed well and so our team of ABK this session too will keep functioning as it functioned in the last tenure”, added Yosung with deep contention.
