MEP026 Prior Service Marine Mom Now Small Business Owner With Amanda Fangue Potter of Bee's Knees Art
In this episode, Erin talks to Amanda Fangue about her artwork that she turned into a business. She loves to create quirky fun pottery pieces that make people happy, and has chosen not to pursue heavy topics with her art. Amanda’s most popular piece, her goldfish bubble mugs, actually started out as a ramen noodle bowl in a competition! Since then, she has been making the popular goldfish and bird pieces, & more. Amanda always tries to follow through with her obligations – challenges in business never got her down. She upholds her name as an honor and a symbol and quitting has never been in her vocabulary.
Amanda juggles family and business by having her children join her in the studio space; they have been in the studio with Amanda from day one. Her work schedule revolves around her children, and they accept art as part of their life.
Then, Amanda talks about the beginning of her business. Her work started out by doing pet portraits. Using the profits from her pet portraits, Amanda was able to work on her pottery. At first, she was making a lot of logo mugs for businesses. Amanda has stopped taking custom orders but posts flash sales on social media so keep an eye out! Stay tuned to hear Amanda dive deep into the production of each piece and how intricate each step is, packaging and all!
