Diabetic eye problems -
There are two types of diabetic retinopathy:
1. Background or nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR)
NPDR can cause changes in the eye, including:
- Microaneurysms
- Retinal hemorrhages
- Hard exudates
- Macular edema
- Macular ischemia
2. Proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR)
PDR may cause more severe vision loss than NPDR because it can affect both central and peripheral vision. PDR affects vision in the following ways:
- Vitreous hemorrhage
- Traction retinal detachment
- Neovascular glaucoma
Diabetes generally is classified as two types: Type 1 diabetes & Type 2 diabetes
