Railfanning Norfolk Southern in NJ and PA - High Hoods, Heritage Unit, and More! - 11|16|19

Railfanning Norfolk Southern in NJ and PA - High Hoods, Heritage Unit, and More! - 11|16|19 These are all the NS trains I caught on a trip with my friends. The first train is NS 18N which we see from a distance while the Black River & Western freight job is drilling Ferrell Gas in Three Bridges. After that, we head over to Landsdown Road at MP58 on the NS Lehigh Line. To our surprise, it had a non-rebuilt GP59 leading, which there are only twelve left. Once H76 cleared, we went over to Allentown to check out yard operations in hopes of catching a High Hood Geep. Sure enough, a few minutes after we got there, a trio of classic EMD locomotives was fired up. In the consist were two High Hood GP38-2’s and an ex-Norfolk & Western SD40-2. They went over to the other side of the yard, picked up a cut of cars, and brought them to the main yard. We soon found out that NS 67D had 8098, the Conrail heritage unit trailing, so we headed over to CP BURN at Auburn Street on the NS Reading Line. Before 67D came, NS H44 passed us with two consecutively-numbered SD60E’s, the leader having a nice-sounding RS5T. About an hour after, NS 67D came rumbling around the bend and sure enough, 8098 was on it.

Trains:
1. NS 18N speeds over Main Street crossing in Three Bridges, NJ with GE C40-9W’s 9594 and 9486.
2. NS H76 flies past Landsdown Road in Annandale, NJ with EMD GP59 4619 and EMD SD40-2 3414.
3. An Allentown Yard job creeps past us with EMD GP38-2 5012 (High Hood), EMD GP38-2 5004 (High Hood) and EMD SD40-2 6150.
4. NS H44 passes Auburn Street in Allentown, PA with EMD SD60E’s 6943 and 6942.
5. NS 67D rumbles past Auburn Street with GE C40-9W 9667 and GE ES44AC 8098 (Conrail heritage unit).

Enjoy!
