A James City County child pornography investigator was charged Thursday night with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
William Ridgway Gibbs, 65, of James City County, was charged with 10 counts of possession, reproduction, solicitation and facilitation of child pornography, according to a Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office news release. In August, the James City County Police Department requested the sheriff’s office investigate four tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the release said. The tips indicated child pornography had been uploaded from an address in James City County, according to a James City County news release.
Gloucester is a hub for tracking child pornography in the region and an investigator at the sheriff’s office is the director of the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to James City County Police Department Deputy Chief Steve Rubino.
