Has a Mummified Lion Been Discovered in Saqqara, Egypt? | Ancient Architects Last month I stated that there will more news coming out of Egypt this November and in the past 24 hours we have found out a little more information, as the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities Dr Khaled El-Enany has spoken with Britain’s Daily Express.

The news will be officially released on November 23rd but what we know so far is that an ancient and important cemetery has been discovered in Saqqara, the necropolis that includes the famous Step Pyramid of Djoser.

Inside this cemetery there are a large number of symbolic coffins as well as mummified animals, including one strange and special animal that the experts are currently taking a closer look a. It appears to be a large cat, a lion or lioness and full details of what this animal is will be revealed on November 23rd after further examination.
