West Chester University is committed to providing a learning and working environment that is inclusive to all members of the campus community and fosters success. As a result, the University has adopted a formal preferred name policy.
This policy recognizes that some members of our community use and identify with first names that are different from their legal names. A chosen or preferred name may be a valuable component of a person’s identity and impact their ability to successfully navigate the campus environment.
