With long queues to get ‘pollution under control’ (PUC) certificates seen throughout the day, the state government late on Thursday announced that police would not impose fines for PUC and HSRP violations till September 30. The government had earlier announced it would strictly enforce the new rules, with higher fines, from September 16. Owners of testing centres that issue PUC certificates in the city are having a tough time handling the mad rush, with long queues seen from the morning.
