Rideshare drivers and gig-workers are NOT employees. That according to a U.S, federal judge, a federal labor lawyer, and the federal labor board. Uber and Lyft drivers are independent contractors and California is dead wrong on the issue. If California tries to put this law into effect, it will be shot down in the federal court system. Uber and Lyft drivers can breath a sigh of relief because if California acts irresponsibly with this reclassification of gig-workers, it will NEVER get through the federal court system.
