Civil Society Organizations that monitor water, sanitation and hygiene have expressed concern over the lack of access to clean water in rural areas. This concern is raised in a report in which the CSOs partnered with Twaweza to monitor the water, hygiene and sanitation situation in the country. Findings from the report indicated that whereas 42% of households in urban areas have access to clean water, only 11% of households in rural areas access to clean water. However, the ministry of water has noted that a shortage in funds is frustrating their efforts to provide clean water to all Ugandans.
