Rustler AMCO .87 Mk. 1 Reproduction model diesel engine

Rustler AMCO .87 Mk. 1 Reproduction model diesel engine This is a reproduction of the 1947 AMCO .87 Mk. 1 commissioned by Ian Russell in the UK. I believe it was built in Russia.

The engine as delivered would not run as the gudgeon pin was too high up in the piston. A new piston was made with the gudgeon pin holes in the correct location. The supplied cylinder base gasket was a fibre item, which 'crushed'. It was replaced with a soft alloy pattern replacement "indexed" to the correct thickness .

The engine now starts very easily and runs with good power. It is shown running slightly rich and under compressed as it is not yet fully run in.

Fuel composition: Equal parts di-ethyl ether, F-34 AVTUR and castor oil (lubricant grade).

Propeller: Master Airscrew 8 x 3.
