Armored personnel carrier (APC) is an armored vehicle designed, equipped and intended to use to transport troops to forward battle zones and armed with less-than-20 millimeter caliber weapon systems. For modern armed forces APC is one of the most necessary things for land forces. Bangladesh Army has an inventory of 2,294 armored personnel carrier from various origins, most of which are Soviet/Russian.
There are clear differences between armored personnel carrier (APC) and armored combat vehicle/infantry fighting vehicles. APCs are not deployed to the forward zones but link the fighting units from the back.
Bangladesh Army has deployed more than 300 APCs in the UN Peace Support Operations.
