News24 - Barcelona star makes de Ligt transfer admission which will worry Man Utd

Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has sung the praises of his club to Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt as the 19-year-old contemplates his next move in football. The two players are international teammates with the Netherlands and both started the 3-1 Nations League semi-final win over England. Cillessen, who has been at Barcelona since 2016 after moving from Ajax, admitted he has discussed the Catalan club with de Ligt, but says he has not tried to pressure the player into joining him at the Nou Camp. Cillessen said: “I sat down with him to talk about all his options, but the same as I did with Frenkie [De Jong], I told him that the decision belongs to him. “Matthijs is a good boy and he knows what he has to do. “I talked to him, but I told him that I could not make the decision for him, he knows what he has to do. “I can only talk about good things about Barca because it's a great club and I have a great feeling with Barca. “He is only 19 years old. Barcelona needs players with a very high level and he has the level to play there.” De Ligt has been linked with a move away from Ajax ever since his impressive performances in the Champions League grabbed the attention of Europe after he helped inspired his side to a run to the semi-finals, beating the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus in the process. His teammate de Jong, meanwhile, has already confirmed a transfer to the Nou Camp, and will officially move to the club on July 1 for a fee of around £67m. Manchester United are thought to be desperate to sign de Ligt but the player is rumoured to favour a move to Barcelona, with both teams set to do battle for his services over the coming weeks.
