I've made a few videos about Anime NYC on this channel (back when it was called Allie-RX 2) in the past. Since 2017, I've stated that it has been my favorite convention in New York City thus far and a lot better than New York Comic Con nowadays! (2017) Anime NYC vs. New York Comic Con:

However, as of late, they've been under fire due to their initial policy on "Nazi-like" cosplays, even going as far as banning Tanya The Evil cosplays...which is odd since it's based on World War I, not World War II. Literal Nazi symbols and literal Nazis/neo-Nazis being banned are totally fine, but making rules vague doesn't help you at all.
Fortunately however, days later, Anime NYC issued a statement responding to the controversy and fixed their policy. The fact that this convention always responds to criticism, even this one, is why I will always respect them!
As a fan of Anime NYC and as someone who watches Anti-SJW YouTubers, I wanted to give my opinion on it. I wanted to make this video because no one else on YouTube was talking about the statement and the update. When people look up "Anime NYC Bans Cosplay" and see videos prior to May 20th, they'll be misinformed.
Also, one more thing I forgot to mention in the video that I should've mentioned: Anime NYC is NOT organized by Crunchyroll. They are organized by a company called LeftField Media. Crunchyroll is simply their sponsor. Their logo says "Powered By Crunchyroll" because they're their main sponsor, kinda like how The Walking Dead is the main sponsor for NYCC. Obviously The Walking Dead and AMC do not organize NYCC. ReedPOP does.
