Committee seeks to give preference to students from marginalized areas

National Assembly Education Committee is considering a legislative proposal that seeks to give the Education Cabinet Secretary powers to introduce affirmative action in the admission of students from marginalized areas in teaching colleges and universities. The amendment bill to the Teachers Service Commission Act also seeks to increase the number of students enrolled in teachers colleges from the 17 marginalized counties in a bid to upscale education in the regions.
